Please Note: The Denver Metro Teacher Job Fair is SOLD OUT due to meeting the maximum number of 500 attendees. No onsite registrations will be accepted and you must be preregistered to attend. You will not be allowed to visit with the recuiters.

Districts who normally participate in this job fair are from the Denver Metro area, such as Boulder Valley RE-2, Denver County 1, Cherry Creek 5, Littleton 6, Aurora, St. Vrain Valley Re 1J, Englewood 1, and Douglas County RE 1. Some districts south of the Denver Metro area may also participate in this fair. Please check below for the list of participating districts.

PROSPECTIVE TEACHERS

Colorado school districts will be hosting two 2012 Teacher Job Fairs, the Southern Fair on March 23, and the Metro Denver Fair on March 24. The fairs provide an excellent opportunity for teachers to explore anticipated vacancies.

Please note that the design of the Job Fair has been changed for this year to maximize the time that attendees have to visit with school districts. All districts will have a table at which representatives will be meeting with candidates. Some districts at the Denver Metro fair will have pre-screening between 8:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. for potential interview appointments later in the day. Other districts will have short "Meet and Greet" interviews throughout the day. The type of interviews that selected districts will employ may dictate how you decide on which districts to sign up for first. Please note that districts do not share their interview format with CASE.

Individual school districts will require a copy of your current resume. Please be sure to bring an adequate number of copies.

Representatives from the Colorado Department of Education will be onsite to answer questions regarding licensure.
Due to the nature of this job fair, no Alternative Licensure or Teacher-In-Residence applicants will be accepted.

WHAT APPLICANTS SHOULD EXPECT

The CASPA job fairs have a design that is very similar to many of the university job fairs. To maximize the experience for participants, we offer the following information:

CASPA is the Colorado Association of School Personnel Administrators. Members are human resource directors and other administrators who are responsible for hiring teachers for their respective school districts. Most major Colorado districts and many of the smaller districts will be represented. Larger districts will have as many as 12 administrators to interview candidates. Districts from the Front Range, Western Slope, Southern Colorado, Eastern Colorado, and mountain areas will be present at one or both fairs.

The doors of the Denver Metro job fair will open at 7:00 a.m.

It is critical to plan on attending the job fair for the entire day. The most critical time of the Denver Metro job fair will be from 8:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. School districts that will be conducting pre-screenings will use this time to schedule longer interviews for later in the day. Expect lines at some of the larger districts. The school districts that will be employing “Meet and Greet” interviews will be available throughout the day.

This job fair is an opportunity to talk directly with hiring officials of Colorado school districts. Many of the recruiters will be principals and assistant principals. All licensed candidates and those who are scheduled to student teach and complete their teacher education programs this spring (2012) are invited to attend.

Due to the nature of this job fair, school districts will not be interviewing individuals seeking employment under Alternative Licensure or Teacher-In-Residence.

Please do not call CASE for questions regarding the job fair.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

1. What do I wear?

Dress professionally but comfortably.  You may be doing a lot of standing in lines. Give thought to your attire and the impression you are making.

2.  Do I need to arrive before 8:00 a.m.?

Yes.  The door will be open at 7:00 a.m. for registered teacher candidates. For school districts conducting pre-screening interviews, those will be scheduled from 8:00 – 10:00 a.m. These very short interviews (two-three minutes) determine if you will have a longer interview later in the day. Be prepared to spend the whole day to maximize your interview schedule. Other districts conducting “Meet and Greet” will be open throughout the day.

3.  What do I need to bring?

· An adequate supply of resumes (at least 20, 1-2 pages in length) to share with districts.
· Portfolios are optional. Some districts may want to see them; most will not.

4.  Will I have an opportunity to interview?

School districts will be interviewing until 5:00 p.m. Opportunities to interview will depend on the district need for your licensure area(s), and the availability of time slots.

5.  Who should attend the job fair?

All in-state and
out-of-state
licensed candidates, and student teachers who will be completing their education program in the spring of 2012 are welcome to attend the CASPA job fair. School districts will not be interviewing individuals seeking employment under Alternative License or Teacher in Residence.

Last year, this job fair had over 500 participants. We expect similar numbers to attend this year.  It is suggested that you arrive early and be available throughout the day.

6.  What about lunch?

Lunch will be provided on Saturday at no cost.  Tickets will be issued upon arrival.  Please note, breakfast will not be served.

7.  What about parking?

The high school has extensive parking available

8.  Can I register onsite?

There will be no onsite registration at the CASPA Denver Metro Job Fair.

9.  Will you be interviewing administrative candidates?

Some of the districts will have representatives to talk to administrative candidates, but this is primarily a teacher job fair.  Counselors are welcome to attend.

10.
