Colorado school districts will be hosting two 2013 Teacher Job Fairs; the Southern Fair on March 22, and the Metro Denver Fair on March 23. The fairs provide an excellent opportunity for teachers to explore anticipated vacancies.
Please note that the design of the Job Fair has been changed for this year to maximize the time that attendees have to visit with school districts. All districts will have a table at which representatives will be meeting with candidates. Some districts at the Southern Fair will have pre-screening between 8:30 am and 10:00 am for potential interview appointments later in the day. Other districts will have short "Meet and Greet" interviews throughout the day. The type of interviews that selected districts will employ may dictate how you decide on which districts to sign up for first. Please note that districts do not share their interview format with CASE. Individual school districts may require a copy of your current resume. Please be sure to bring an adequate number of copies.
Representatives from the Colorado Department of Education will be onsite to answer questions regarding licensure. Due to the nature of this job fair, no Alternative Licensure or Teacher-In-Residence applicants will be accepted.
WHAT APPLICANTS SHOULD EXPECT
The CASPA job fairs have a design that is very similar to many of the university job fairs. To maximize the experience for participants, we offer the following information:
CASPA is the Colorado Association of School Personnel Administrators. Members are human resource directors and other administrators who are responsible for hiring teachers for their respective school districts. Most major Colorado districts and many of the smaller districts will be represented. Larger districts will have as many as 12 administrators to interview candidates. Districts from the Front Range, Western Slope, Southern Colorado, Eastern Colorado, and mountain areas will be present. The doors of the Southern job fair will open at 8:00 am.It is essential to plan on attending the job fair for the entire day. The most critical time of the job fair will be from 8:30- 10:00 am. School districts that will be conducting pre-screenings will use this time to schedule longer interviews for later in the day. Expect lines at some of the larger districts. The school districts that will be employing “Meet and Greet” interviews will be available throughout the day.
This job fair is an opportunity to talk directly with hiring officials of Colorado school districts. Many of the recruiters will be principals and assistant principals. All licensed candidates and those who are scheduled to student teach and complete their teacher education programs this spring (2013) are invited to attend.
Please do not call CASE with questions regarding the job fair. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS1. What do I wear? Dress professionally but comfortably. You may be standing in lines throughout the day.
